S1:E4 | From Entitlement to Enjoyment: MJ

Like many others in the late 90s, M.J. grew up deeply entrenched in evangelical teachings of purity culture. While she wanted to follow the rules like a good girl, she couldn’t fight the shameful feelings of curiosity and confusion surrounding the subject.

This led M.J. down a guilt-ridden path of desiring physical exploration before marriage, but feeling like she was dooming her future marriage. When she did get to marriage, she realized it wasn’t her exploration that brought challenges into the bedroom, but something far more complex.

Listen to hear M.J. share how her family of origin, her religious upbringing, and her husband’s desires led to a swirling storm of resentment - and how she was able to slowly disrupt those destructive patterns and create a marriage of love, intimacy and enjoyment.
